Ours Terms / Shipping Info / Local Delivery
Our farm is joining the growing network of local micro flower farms in Australia, who, as collective now bring to the market an abundance and diversity of Australian Grown seasonal flowers. This reduces the number of flowers being imported from overseas (cold stored for several months, fumigated/preserved with numerous chemicals and sometimes artificially scented/coloured), and the significant carbon footprint imported flowers create is immense.
Purchasing from small scale passionate farmers, you will soon experience the difference this delivers. Blooms that will last longer in your home and plants that will be stronger and better acclimatised to our climates. Additionally, your purchase helps to support the economy of your local communities.
We care about the footprint we leave as a business and where possible have implemented sustainable practices into our business model. This includes not only using offset carbon emissions through our preferred shipping partner, but also through a monthly donation to Greening Australia (equivalent to our grid drawn average electricity usage). All our packaging has been carefully selected to ensure that it can be either biodegraded, composted, or recycled. This even includes our sticky tape and packaging noodles.
LIVE PLANTS โ DAHLIA CUTTINGS AND MORE
We take pride in producing healthy, robust cuttings. Now in our third season of shipping live plants, we offer cultivars throughout the growing season, eliminating risks like non-viable tubers or losses in wet springs. By purchasing from us, you can often secure cultivars without partaking in the well-known โhunger gamesโ of current times.
Plants are living products, packaged with care and as sustainably as we can. Shipping involves removing them from their acclimatised home and placing them in dark, humid boxes, often traveling hundreds of kilometers in non-climate-controlled conditions. Even with Express Post, shipping can take 3-4 days, to some locatons. While rare, minor wilting or yellowing may occur but is quickly resolved with proper care. Detailed care guides are available on our website.
Pest Management
We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods for eco-friendly pest control. However, we recommend treating all plants upon arrival by submerging them in a Rose Shield solution for 5 minutes to minimise the risk of transferring any insects or fungal spores to your garden. We recommend this for any new stock regardless of supplier.
Prior to being shipped our plants are grown outdoors in filter light conditions. They should be placed in a similar environment for a few days post arrival โ but will not survive indoors on windowsills or in laundries. For best results, follow the provided care guide.
Social Media Awareness
While social media showcases perfection through often adjusted or filtered images, remember that achieving picture-perfect blooms depends on many factors. Your gardening experience, soil health, correct feeding, pest management, and disbudding all play a role. Even as seasoned growers, we experience losses beyond our control.
While propagated Dahlias offer many benefits over tubers and will display stunning blooms in their first season, they perform even better once settled in the garden during their second season.
Shipping and Collection
Once shipping occurs, please track your parcel and arrange immediate collection. We cannot be held liable for Australia Post leaving plants in unsuitable conditions. Boxes are clearly labelled as containing LIVE PLANTS and request a suitable placement. If concerns arise, contact us immediately with photos or HD video. While we are always willing to help and advise, we cannot be held responsible for issues that occur post-arrival.
A Polite Request
Weโre a small team, just Gareth and I, managing high demand during Dahlia season. Orders are processed in sequence, and while we strive for accuracy, mistakes can happen. Please contact us directly with concerns before seeking advice elsewhere.
Purchase Limits
To share the love of Dahlias with more gardeners, customers are limited to purchasing no more than two plants of the same cultivar. We will automatically refund customers who do not adhere to this rule, minus a $10 processing and restocking fee. However, if youโre interested in a bulk order of a variety, please email us to discuss further.
Stopping/Pinching
To meet demand, we grow plants tall and slender. Some may be cut back for shipping or defoliated to reduce heat stress. Rest assured, plants have strong roots and tubers, and regrowth typically begins within days. For health reasons, cutting stock is kept separate from selling stock.
Combined Shipping
Weโll combine multiple orders placed before packing and refund excess shipping fees upon request. Email us with order numbers or choose Farm Gate collection to avoid extra costs.
Thank You
Thank you for supporting our small business. We hope you enjoy growing Dahlias as much as we do!
