🌿 A Hands-On Afternoon of Dahlia Fun!
Join us for a practical, hands-on workshop to learn how we dig, divide, and store dahlia tubers each winter. Then, as a bonus, we'll teach you how to grow dahlias from cuttings too!
Whether you’re a budding gardener, a future Grand Champion, or dreaming of going commercial, we blend helpful theory with plenty of dirt-under-your-nails learning. Because here, we believe the best way to grow... is by getting stuck in.

The Olde Creamery has fast become one of North East Victoria’s most beloved boutique micro-farms — home to nearly 500 named dahlia cultivars, the pioneering Breeder Royalty Program, and a strong focus on education, preservation, and sustainable growing practices. In 2024, we were proud recipients of the Excellence in Horticulture Award. We’re also known for our small-batch condiments and artisan products, available online and through a growing network of local stockists.

This afternoon is packed with practical guidance, live demonstrations, and old-fashioned flower talk. Topics include:

✅ Tuber division & storage — our hands-on, no-fuss approach
✅ Seed growing & breeding basics — how to collect and grow your own new varieties
✅ Dahlia cuttings — helping you safeguard your purchases or multiply varieties to share
✅ Soil health & paddock preparation — setting your beds up for success
✅ Integrated pest management — real strategies from our own farm experience
✅ General growing tips — staking, feeding, stopping, and more
🌱 Take Home Goodies
You’ll receive a tuber from our collection as well as the opportunity to take home cuttings from the workshop to practice your learnings. We also provide detailed notes with tips and seasonal reminders.
PLUS: You’ll get to walk through our growing spaces — while the flowers may be gone, you'll see how we prep beds, manage irrigation, and tackle weeds in the off-season. It’s a great opportunity to learn, share stories, and connect with fellow growers.

Enjoy a warming bowl of soup with gourmet additions while Jamie introduces you to The Olde Creamery and the fascinating world of dahlias — their rich history and the theory behind the day’s activities.
After our time in the paddock, we’ll reconvene to answer any questions, talk dahlias some more, and enjoy afternoon tea.

Many farms offer similar events at well over $300 per person, but we believe learning should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we keep our events affordably priced and also offer AfterPay to make it even easier.
