We do things a little differently.

You won't find us selling dahlia seed based on parentage or making big promises about what might emerge. While seedlings can inherit traits from their parents, we don't believe those connections are strong enough to justify marketing seed as if the outcome is predictable.

The reality is much more exciting.

Dahlias grown from seed are genetic surprises. Unlike tubers, which produce an exact clone of the parent plant, every seedling carries its own unique mix of traits — colour, form, size, petal count, vigour, flowering habit and more. No two seedlings are exactly alike.

That unpredictability is what makes dahlia breeding so addictive.

Among hundreds of seedlings, you may discover something truly special — a plant worth keeping, tubering up and refining over future seasons. Every named dahlia cultivar started as a single seedling that caught someone's eye.
