Growing Information

• Position: Full sun to part shade; afternoon protection beneficial in hot climates

• Soil: Rich, fertile, well-drained soil

• Watering: Regular watering during active growth and flowering; avoid waterlogging

• Flowering: Summer, with timing varying by variety and climate

• Height: Generally 1–2 metres, with some established varieties growing taller

• Habit: Tall, upright, bulbous perennial

• Fragrance: Beautifully fragrant, varying between varieties

• Harvesting: Cut when the first buds are well developed and beginning to show colour

• Uses: Cut flowers, wedding floristry, garden beds, borders and large containers

• Maintenance: Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to replenish the bulb for the following season

Our Growing Tip: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil and mulch around the base to help keep the roots cool during Australia's warmer months. Taller varieties may benefit from staking, particularly in exposed positions.

When harvesting flowers, leave at least one-third of the stem and sufficient foliage on the plant to help feed the bulb for next season's spectacular display.
